OSD Exclusive: Lizzy Valentine aka Kandi Kisses Interview
May 3rd, 2010 | Comments (5)

The OhSoDivalicious family had the distinct honor and privilege  of sending in some questions to the independent wrestling & Wrestlicious Diva, Lizzy Valentine aka Kandi Kisses! Lizzy discussed what made her want to get into wrestling, her dream opponents from TNA & WWE, Lady GaGa, her pet peeves, her time in Wrestling Society X,  and much more! We would like to express our deepest and upmost gratitude to her. Lizzy Valentine is an absolute sweetheart and a down to earth chicka! The OSD Family was so pleased to get into contact with Lizzy. Now let’s get to the interview!

Hey! Thank you for agreeing to do this interview. Let’s start it off with how are you doing today?

Lizzy: Im a little bit under the weather, but I will survive, haha

Why did you decide to become a professional wrestler?

Lizzy: I always loved wrestling! I watched it since childhood, and when I was 14 I decided that I was going to go for it. I love to entertain people, and love being athletic. Most of all, I love being able to travel all over the world and meet my amazing fans.

How did going to the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City impact your wrestling career?

Lizzy: It prepared me to work in front of an audience!!

What were your thoughts going into your first match ever?
Lizzy: I was really nervous, but once I stepped thru the curtains, I was totally fine. That’s when the stage fright disappears for me.

You had a brief stint in NWA-TNA as a member of Bitchslap with Traci Brooks and Nurse Veronica ( Simply Luscious). What was it like to work with these ladies?
Lizzy: Wow It was so long ago I can barely remember, haha. They are awesome.

To read more about Lizzy’s career & learn some interesting facts, continue after the break!

You took part in Wrestling Society X. How would you characterize your time in that promotion?
Lizzy: I absolutely LOVEDDD it! I wish it was still around. It was so fun and exciting to work for a new promotion that was willing to take risks with unknown talent. It was definitely one of the highlights of my career.

In Wrestling Society X, you managed Matt Sydal ( aka Evan Bourne). What was it like to manage Evan?
Lizzy: It was so much fun. I loved watching him wrestle. He is so talented and does everything to perfection. It was really fun pretending to be his girlfriend hahaha.

If you had to face one current WWE Diva and one TNA Knockout in a triple threat match, who would you want to face and why?
Lizzy: Hmmm Maryse and Velvet Sky, so it can be a battle of the blondes! I am a fan of both of them, and think there are similarities between all of us. We all like to be sexy, yet bitchy!!

If you had to be a tag team with one current WWE Diva or one TNA Knockout, which Diva and Knockout would you pick as your tag team partner and why?
Lizzy: Maybe I would team with Angelina to form a new version of TBP….and in WWE, Maryse, so we can be bitches together!! hahaha

On Thursday 22nd of April, Katie Lea and Mickie James were let go from their WWE contracts. This came as a complete shock to wrestling fans. What were your thoughts when you heard?
Lizzy: I was totally shocked to hear that Mickie was let go. She was one of the most popular divas, but in this business you can be let go at any time, under any circumstances. I wasn’t shocked about Katie, as she really wasn’t being used that much.

What is your current entrance music and why did you choose that particular track?
Lizzy: I am currently looking for a new song! Any suggestions?

What artists and bands are we most likely to find on your iPod?
Lizzy: I listen to alot of R&B and hip/hop because I pole dance for exercise. Besides that, you would definitely find Danity Kane, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne.

What’s your favorite song at this moment?
Lizzy: Usher- Lil Freak

One of our readers, Noe, wants to know if you’re a fan of Lady Gaga and if so, what is your favorite Gaga song?
Lizzy: Yes I am. She follows me on Twitter. How cool is that? I love all her music, but I think Poker Face might be my favorite. I love the Bad Romance video so much.

How did you come up with your ring name, Lizzy Valentine?
Lizzy: Well, my real name is Liz, and I love Valentine’s day, so I just meshed them together.

If you could be anyone on this earth – male, female, wrestler, non wrestler – for one day, who would you be, why and what would you do?!
Lizzy: Wow! That is such a hard question. Im really not sure. Maybe someone super rich and famous, so I can see what its like living in luxury. Maybe Britney Spears or Diddy, haha.

What is your biggest pet peeve in the wrestling business?
Lizzy: Smelly knee pads and the smell of icy hot on sweaty wrestlers!! So grosssssss

What is your biggest pet peeve in general?
Lizzy: When people chew with their mouth open, and slurp their drinks. It seriously drives me nuts!!

Wesley, one of our readers asked a funny question. He wants to know if you hate Valentine’s day because Valentine is your ring name?
Lizzy: No. Valentine’s is my favorite. I am really girly and love hearts/pink stuff/furry stuff/chocolate. I also love romance.

Sally McDonald, another one of the visitors to our site wanted to ask you out of everyone you have faced in your career, who has been your favorite opponent and why?
Lizzy: I really liked wrestling Malia Hosaka early in my career. She showed me the ropes and taught me alot. I also like wrestling Morgan because we have great chemistry.

Trina, another reader, wants to know if you think there’s any similarities between your Wrestlicious character Kandi Kisses and WWE’s resident songbird, Jillian Hall?
Lizzy: They are not similar, because she sings really bad, and I lip synch!

But what we want to know is would Kandi Kisses ever do a duet with the amazingly talented singer, Jillian Hall? ;)
Lizzy: No! My song is good, hahahahhaa

What is it like to work in Wrestlicious?
Lizzy: It’s a really fun time. They treat us really well, and with alot of respect.

On December 21, 2009, you and Amber O’Neal had a tryout dark match at TNA’s Impact. How did the match go?
Lizzy: I got really good feedback from the agents at TNA. It was our first time working together, so the match was decent but like I said, I only received positive feedback.

If you had offers from both TNA & WWE, which company would you choose?
Lizzy: I don’t know.

What advice would you give people who want to get into the wrestling business?
Lizzy: You have to be prepared to dedicate your life to it. You need to train, pay your dues, and be healthy.

What can we expect to see from Lizzy Valentine/Kandi Kisses in the future?
Lizzy: I might go back to Mexico to work for AAA, but I’m not sure yet. I would like to work for a big company sooner rather than later.

Thank you so much for doing this interview with us. We appreciate it so much. Is there anything you want to say to your fans or plug?
Lizzy: Thanks for having me! I really appreciate and love my fans. You guys are the best!!
Please add my Facebook.com/LizzyValentineXoXo and www.Twitter.com/IamLizzyXoXo pages.

If you haven’t checked out Lizzy on Wrestlicious, please do so. Also,  Lizzy and OhSoDivalicious would like it if you all would tweet Dixie Carter ( @TNADIXIE ) to get her into TNA! As you all can see, Lizzy is ready to make an impact in TNA. But she needs YOUR HELP! Thank you once again to Lizzy & the friends of OSD that sent in questions!
