Mickie James was recently in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. She spoke about her time in the WWE and her budding career in music. She also signed autographs and gave the little children advice. Mickie had some really good advice for the little ones and also for others.
“When you set these goals, things you want to do, you have to recognize the path that you need to take to get there. . . . You’re never too young to start going after your dream. The only person who can ever stop you is yourself.
“I can’t tell you how many times people said to me [about being a wrestler], ‘Mickie, you’re too small. There are a thousand girls just like you that want to do the same exact thing. How do you think you’re going to make it?’
“‘Because I want to. And I’m willing to sacrifice to get there,’” James would answer. “I put in the hard work and the sacrifices to get there. It wasn’t easy by any means. Any dream that’s worth chasing is never an easy thing to do.”
The article is a must and the video really does tug at your heart strings. As an educator, it’s good to see Mickie James putting her superstardom into good use with the positive mentoring. To view the video and read the article : http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2010/aug/27/mick27-ar-475236/
Luna Vachon has passed away and well, Jim Ross blogged a bit about it on his official site–www.jrsbarbq.com. It’s wonderful to see how Jim Ross, other coworkers, and fans have been complimenting and keeping up her legacy.
It is said that death comes in three’s. Apparently that’s morbidly correct. Upon hearing of Luna Vachon’s passing this morning came another reminder that no one is guaranteed tomorrow.
The exact cause of Luna’s passing has not been determined but 48 is much too young for anyone to be taken from this world and our sincere condolences go out to Luna’s family and the many friends that she had in and out of the wrestling business.
After seeing TNA, I was happy the original Beautiful People had reunited – but then I saw TNA Reaction. It seems as though TNA still have the audacity to make digs at WWE; mainly it’s women’s division.
Angelina and Velvet had words for two certain individuals.
Velvet Sky: For all you wannabe Beautiful People girls out there, you know exactly who I’m talking about. Get a life, you’ll never be us!
Angelina Love: You’re not cool by the way, not cool.
WWE Women’s champion, the digee, Layla, took to her twitter today and said the following:
@mslaylael | Layla: Living the dream & so blessed!! 1 thing I know when u r attacked u have 2 decide if it’s worth the time & effort to retaliate. Not worth the press. Plus don’t deserve the press we get even tho they want it & need it :-) Real talk.
The beef TNA holds with WWE is totally pathetic. TNA has some great talent, why compare it with the talent in WWE? Why mock WWE’s talent? Why TNA made their talent ruin a perfectly satisfying segment on iMPACT! is beyond me. Rarely anything in professional wrestling is original. Most is recycled and redone by newer talent.
Hey Beautiful People, remember Ladies In Pink (Vince’s Devils) and Pretty Mean Sisters? MHMMMMM!
Just hours removed from the world finding out about the death of Luna Vachon, the wrestling legend has topped two charts, as well as being featured on TMZ.
Luna became a trending topic worldwide on Twitter and became the number one top searched person on Yahoo.
The crazy Diva is still making an impression. Rest in peace.
Welcome to this weeks Smackdown, Smacked Down! This week on Smackdown, we didn’t get any Divas action, but we got a few skits. Laycool were seen backstage with Kaval, plotting and being bad. Rosa Mendes was seen working out again but this time doing a brand new work out! The Divas who faced off in a mixed tag match last week, Serena and Kelly Kelly, accompanied their respective Superstars to the ring for their singles match. View Digitals?
The screen fades to the broken WWE Women’s title. The camera pans out to show the beautifulsimply flawlessMichelle McCool and Layla. “YAY BFF CHAMPS!” Layla says as Michelle asks how good do they look. They grab Kaval to go look at their snaps, which have been uploaded to a computer. “Oooh, flawless!” exclaims Layla. “FLAWLESS!” Michelle says. The camera pans out and… “Flawless” says Kaval. He gets lots of “YAY”‘s and claps as Michelle thanks him. Layla says someone could use their help. She says guess who and starts to bawl like a baby. Michelle guesses right – it was Melina! Layla wonders if Teddy Long is gonna like what they have planned for this Monday’s 900th special episode! The pair of them then rip on Melina’s SummerSlam outfit as it wasn’t flawless! Layla forgot the plan so Michelle says she needs privacy. Kaval escorts the fat perverts out of the room as Michelle begins whispering to Lay!
The original flawless beauty, Rosa Mendes, was seen using some random thing. She says it’s a new fitness rechieme that all the celebrities are using. Teddy says she looks great. She leaves and Hornswoggle pops out the plant. After MINUTES of bad acting between Teddy and Hornswoggle, we finally understand that Hornswoggle has been spying on Laycool and himself and Teddy are gonna work together. [Watch here]
The bald and the blonde (A.K.A. Serena and K2)were on yet again this week, but they were only accompanying their respective Superstars to the ring for their match. They didn’t do anything. [Watch here]
OhSoDivalicious has learned that the rumours about former WWE Diva and one of our favourite old time legends, Luna Vachon, are true. Luna has unfortunately passed away. WWE.com posted the following:
World Wrestling Entertainment has been made aware of the passing of Gertrude (Luna) Vachon. WWE extends its deepest condolences to the Vachon family.
Ms. Vachon was under contract with WWE at various times from 1993 through 2000, and performed under the name “Luna” Vachon. She last performed for WWE in early 2000.
Learn more about Luna, view classic photos and more on her WWE Alumni page.
This is truly sad news. Our condolences go out to Luna’s friends and family.
Let’s Re Re Wind to last night’s TNA iMPACT! – Does Dixie Carter-ness count as Knockouts action? She’s the President of TNA Wrestling, so I think she should be included in Re Re Winds, but I’m not too sure. She’s included this week, because she opened the show. Dixie Carter had things to say about Fortune running riot and, in ‘proper’ Knockout action, the original Beautiful People re-united officially, only for Madison Rayne to ruin the moment!
VIDEOS WILL BE UP LATER, when JokerWilds uploads them!
Starting the show with TNA President, Dixie Carter, she’s got some concerns regarding Ric Flair. Out comes Ric Flair and So Cal Val has the honour of sitting on the ropes to let him in. Ah, that’s what she does. In-ring and with a microphone, Ric turns on the charm, asking Dixie if she’d like to go back to the hotel with him, LMFAO. In return, she suspends him for 90 days , but he’s not having any of that and calls for Fortune – AJ Styles, Kaz, Beer Money (Robert Roode & James Storm), Matt Morgan and Douglas Williams – Damn, that’s a lot of guys. And Desmond Wolfe was kicked out?! Looks like they had plenty of room… *cough* Point is, all the blokes in the ring somehow ‘prove’ that Dixie can’t suspend Ric Flair, she has to suspend everyone there. She calls Flair selfish and he isn’t happy about that. He takes his shirt off and luckily he’s wearing a t-shirt underneath, nobody likes to see saggy moobs! Dixie’s husband runs into the ring, but Fortune gang up on him. Cue Hulk Hogan and Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson, Pope D’Angelo Dinero and Kurt Angle.
What have we learned from the segment, kids? Nothing. Hulk Hogan is now in charge of things 100%, and he’s overruled Dixie’s suspension. Oh, and EV 2.0 come out and beat up Fortune. I know it’s not Knockouts/Dixie-related anymore, but I started discussing the segment, so I may as well end it. This should teach me to no-longer cover Dixie Carter-ness.
In other Knockout-but-not-quite-Knockout-action news, when Orlando Jordan made his way to the ring armed with a Samoa Joe action figure, he pretty much harrassed poor So Cal Val!
I think the picture to the right says a thousand words, three of them being: “What the fuck?!” as Orlando’s been harrassing Valerie with lollipops, bubblegum and now the action figure each time he comes down to the ring. So Cal Val should either be surrounded by security or she should learn some Karate moves so she can SMACK the lipgloss off of Orlando’s freaky-ass face!
It’s safe to say that it would actually be simply the greatest. ;)
What’s that I hear?! The Beautiful People’s music and the original Beautiful People come out together!
H O L L E R I N G ! !
Yes, Taz, “BFF” is for life! For the record, Angelina Love has made a lot of mistakes in her life, as has Velvet Sky. Angie talks about how we learn from our mistakes. Angelina felt like the Beauties had a friendship that is really hard to come by and when they had their feud, something was missing. I pretty much agree with her, I always felt like TBP with Madison Rayne and Lacey Von Erich just wasn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Lacey, but if you couldn’t already tell, I mark out for the original Beauties!
Angelina says that she’s not always a “perfect little angel” while pulling on the most adorable face, and as we know, she admits that she can be a “pretty mean bitch”. We love her either way! Basically, Angie wants to forgive and forget so that they can move on. Vel-Vel agrees and talks about the monster they turned Madison Rayne into. By letting bygones be bygones, they can continue to do what they do best, and that’s dominating the Knockouts division, and hopefully that means that they’ll cleanse the UGLY out of TNA once again… Holler!
Their music hits, but it’s actually Madison Rayne making her way out. After a bit of a pause, and looking up the ramp, Madison comes out with the Biker Lady dressed like a hooker. I’m sorry, but I really don’t know what the heck Madison is wearing. Burn it, babes. Velvet is certainly not happy, that’s THEIR music! Hmm, I can’t wait to hear what random generic crap Madison will get soon. The Biker Lady takes off her helmet, but she’s in a ski mask. So Cal Val is seen again, handing a mic to Madison. Let’s hear what she’s got to say…
“If I wasn’t such a lady…” You wouldn’t wear such a terrible outfit if you were a “lady”, love. “I would BARF in this ring!” Classy. Apparently, the Beautiful People are going to be sued for COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, serious business right there, for using her music. LOLWUT. Oh, and they can never EVERRRR refer to themselves as “The Beautiful People” again. Madison Rayne is the only beautiful person in that ring right now, according to her. She’s also all natural, unlike those two “silicone whores” LMFAO. Riiiight.
Angelina Love, champ, brought Madison in for “youth, beauty and class” – Two out of three isn’t bad, hunny. As for Velvet Sky, she is and always will be on thing. Madison’s little BITCH. Catfight! Velvet spears Madison down and the Biker Lady gets involved, which gets Angelina Love involved. Security come out as the crowd demands them to “let them fight”, and one guard gets a little too hands-on with Velvet as the cameras fade.
All the hot news buzzing on twitter is that STEPHANIE MCMAHON and Triple H have had their third child– a girl. Upon further research, Steph’s wikiepedia page states that she gave birth on August 24, 2010. Wikipedia is usually not the most reliable source. However, @Ringsidexcess is tweeting that Steph did indeed give birth on August 24, which just so happen to be Vince McMahon’s birthday.
For over a month, I was able to come in contact with some marvelous people including documentary film director, STEPHEN GILLIS. Stephen recently has a film called This Wrestling Life. As a fan of the independent scene, I became interested in this film because of tweets from female wrestler, Nicole Matthews. It made me think of the training and progress of my best friend and fellow staff member, Marc. I was able to watch the film before it was shown on Canadian television. Before I continue with the review of the film, for more information on the film click the facebook page link ,@twlthemovie, or http://www.thiswrestlinglife.com/.
—————————————————————————————————-
This Wrestling Life is a documentary film that portrays the independent scene of professional wrestling. The film depicts the year of struggles in the lives of four individuals. Travis and Natalie are two new wrestlers to the wrestling business. Bill is training to become a referee. These three individuals have had rough lives and are trying to live out their dreams as part of the wrestling business. These three students have come through adversary in their lives to accomplish their dreams. Travis has come from a broken home. Natalie has come from male dominant household that shunned her dreams. Bill is an openly homosexual forty plus year old man. These students are led by the head trainer of ECCW (Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling), Scotty Mac. In the course of the film, he has been mentoring his protégés and also trying to fulfill his dream of becoming a wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment.
The documentary film focused on the triumphs and the let downs within the process of making it in the wrestling industry. The students Travis, Natalie, and Bill learned about the technical aspects and the social aspects of wrestling. Most notably, Bill received hazing and ribbing because of his “newbie” status coupled with his sexuality. Throughout the experience, Bill stated that he would not let it get to him so he could prove himself to everyone.
Natalie proved to be a tough cookie from the start. She would come late to practice and talk out of line. The no nonsense holds no prisoners’ attitude of Natalie proved to be an issue throughout the film. It led her into trouble many times with Scotty Mac. Scotty Mac mentioned that he felt that he was easy on her because she reminded him of himself. He questioned whether Natalie really wanted to become a wrestler and even be there.
Travis, however, did not allow for the let downs in his life to affect his triumphs. He worked consistently throughout the movie to hone his craft and make something out of himself. He wanted to prove to his parents and everyone else that he could make it as a wrestler. It allowed for him to motivate himself to achieve.
This Wrestling Life chronicled the graduation of many of its students including Bill and Travis. In the graduating class, Natalie was not included. She did not graduate. However, that motivated her to continue and to prove to everyone that she wanted to be there.
The documentary film showed how rough the training process is for wrestlers. The training process is not for everyone and it quickly weeds out those people. This Wrestling Life allowed the viewers into the hearts and minds of four individuals. It encompassed the whole spectrum of wrestling—trainer/booker, male trainee wrestler, female trainee wrestler, and male trainee referee. The main drawback is the time constraints. Not every moment can be depicted. Also, the film focused on the Travis’ story, which was epitome of success. The documentary allowed for the inside view into the lives of the participants and wrestling. The beginning of the journey to superstardom is rarely chronicled and the people who helped along the way are not given proper praise. Scotty Mac brought out the talent that was inside of Billy, Travis, and Natalie. He shared with them all the fun, heart breaking, frustrating, happy moments along with the blood, sweat, and tears that makes up a life in the wrestling business.

Where are they now?
Natalie, or KC Spinelli, is currently a female wrestler in ECCW and for other companies. She has been in matches against Malia Hosaka, Sunni Daze, Nicole Matthews, among others. KC Spinelli is part of the team, Tits & Abs with Alex Plexis in ECCW.
Travis, or “The Popstar” Travis Sparx, is currently in the group called Pop Culture. His team mates are Ice, Bishop, & Veronika Vice. He currently competes for ECCW and other companies.
Bill Taylor is a referee in ECCW and he’s not afraid to show people who’s the boss!
Scotty Mac is still going strong as the go to guy in ECCW. He is a trainer, booker, and occasional wrestler. He’s happy with his role, but still hopes to be WWE.
They all have their dreams in wrestling and are still trying to make it a reality!
