Angelina Pivarnick TNA Bound?
February 4th, 2011 | C0mments

As we reported before, former Jersey Shore star Angelina Pivarnick wants to deliver some Total Nonstop Action. Michael Schweiger of CEG Talent (Angelina’s booker) said she might enter the ring as she “has some interest in it”.

Schweiger also said:

“She has those aggressive tendencies,” Schweiger said in explaining her interest in TNA, later adding, “It’s funny with these kids. They pretty much have an interest in anything that will get their face on the screen.”

Vickie’s NXT Diva Discussion
September 8th, 2010 | Comments (1)

Tonight America will see the debut of NXT Season #3, which features only rookie Divas! One of the pro’s has caused a big stir before the season has even started however – that person being Vickie Guerrero. Vickie appeared on last week’s finale of NXT Season #2 where she introduced her rookie, the six foot nine monster Diva, Aloisia. But this past Friday, WWE.com reported that Vickie ‘fired’ Aloisia and that she would introduce her new rookie tonight.

The Diva fans have been speculating the replacement – as have we! Here’s just a few ladies I’ve thought of…

Beverly Mullins | Former FCW Diva, Beverly Mullins (better known as Courtney Taylor) had come a long way in wrestling. She even made a brief stint as a backstage interviewer on ECW. Beverly could play both the bubbly babyface and the bitchy heel down to a tee, so bringing her in would be a fitting replacement for Aloisia, and plus she’s worked good matches with most of the NXT rookies.

Angela Fong | Better known as Savannah, Angela Fong was the first ever Queen of FCW and a former main roster Diva. She started out as a backstage interviewer for ECW, before starting ring announcing for the extreme brand. She moved on to ring announce for NXT until she was replaced by Jamie Keyes and released. Angela had major talent and potential in women’s wrestling and her career was cut short before she could show it all off.

Serena | The ‘Anti-Diva’ Serena was released two weeks ago, but she didn’t really have a chance to wrestle and prove how good of a worker she is, so bringing her back for one last stint would be good for her. Plus, she wouldn’t be in CM Punk’s shadow, she’d be mentored by Vickie Guerrero!

Jenny Cash | Formally known as the most expensive Diva in FCW, Jenny Cash (later renamed to Penny Cash), didn’t appear much as a wrestler, but hosted her own segment – FCW Express News & Gossip. After returning from a torn ACL, Jenny competed in a mixed tag match before getting released. A month or so ago, Jenny was spotted at an FCW event. Could this mean a return for the former Diva? I hope so! CHA-CHING!

Hayley Turner | Alicia Fox’s baby sister, Christina Crawford, could be the Diva that will replace Aloisia! At a house show this past weekend, Christina was announced as Hayley Turner. Even though she has little experience, a name change for her could mean a debut on NXT, right?

Ricki Vaughn | Very little is known about Ricki, but Christina Crawford and herself are the only other Divas in FCW!

Awesome Kong | There have been rumours on the internet about Awesome Kong replacing Aloisia but Kong is really the only other monsterous female wrestler so it’s no wonder they guessed her. I don’t know if I’d like to see Kong on NXT though, as it would be her destroying the other Divas constantly, and that would get boring.

So, there’s just a few ladies who I think could be possible contenders for the sixth Diva rookie tonight! Who do you think will be Vickie’s replacement? DISCUSS and vote in the poll!

Mystery Biker Lady revealed!
September 3rd, 2010 | Comments (2)

Last night on iMPACT! after a Knockouts tag team match between the original Beautiful People, Madison Rayne and the biker lady, the biker lady unmasked herself to the world.

The lady behind the huge helmet is infact former WWE Diva and TNA Knockout, Tara! Tara hasn’t been since in TNA since May 16th, when she lost a career match to Madison Rayne. What do you think about Tara being the mystery biker bodyguard?

Beautiful vs. Flawless
August 28th, 2010 | Comments (2)

After seeing TNA, I was happy the original Beautiful People had reunited – but then I saw TNA Reaction. It seems as though TNA still have the audacity to make digs at WWE; mainly it’s women’s division.

Angelina and Velvet had words for two certain individuals.

Velvet Sky: For all you wannabe Beautiful People girls out there, you know exactly who I’m talking about. Get a life, you’ll never be us!

Angelina Love: You’re not cool by the way, not cool.

WWE Women’s champion, the digee, Layla, took to her twitter today and said the following:

@mslaylael | Layla: Living the dream & so blessed!! 1 thing I know when u r attacked u have 2 decide if it’s worth the time & effort to retaliate. Not worth the press. Plus don’t deserve the press we get even tho they want it & need it :-) Real talk.

The beef TNA holds with WWE is totally pathetic. TNA has some great talent, why compare it with the talent in WWE? Why mock WWE’s talent? Why TNA made their talent ruin a perfectly satisfying segment on iMPACT! is beyond me. Rarely anything in professional wrestling is original. Most is recycled and redone by newer talent.

Hey Beautiful People, remember Ladies In Pink (Vince’s Devils) and Pretty Mean Sisters? MHMMMMM!

August 26th, 2010 | C0mments

All the hot news buzzing on twitter is that STEPHANIE MCMAHON and Triple H have had their third child– a girl. Upon further research, Steph’s wikiepedia page states that she gave birth on August 24, 2010. Wikipedia is usually not the most reliable source. However, @Ringsidexcess is tweeting that Steph did indeed give birth on August 24, which just so happen to be Vince McMahon’s birthday.

When we learn more information we shall post.

A Review; This Wrestling Life
August 26th, 2010 | Comments (1)

For over a month, I was able to come in contact with some marvelous people including documentary film director, STEPHEN GILLIS.  Stephen recently has a film called This Wrestling Life.  As a fan of the independent scene, I became interested in this film because of tweets from  female wrestler, Nicole Matthews. It made me think of the training and progress of my best friend and fellow staff member, Marc.  I was able to watch the film  before it was shown on Canadian television. Before I continue with the review of the film, for more information on the film click the facebook page link ,@twlthemovie, or http://www.thiswrestlinglife.com/.

—————————————————————————————————-

This Wrestling Life is a documentary film that portrays the independent scene of professional wrestling.  The film depicts the year of struggles in the lives of four individuals. Travis and Natalie are two new wrestlers to the wrestling business. Bill is training to become a referee. These three individuals have had rough lives and are trying to live out their dreams as part of the wrestling business. These three students have come through adversary in their lives to accomplish their dreams. Travis has come from a broken home. Natalie has come from male dominant household that shunned her dreams. Bill is an openly homosexual forty plus year old man. These students are led by the head trainer of ECCW (Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling), Scotty Mac. In the course of the film, he has been mentoring his protégés and also trying to fulfill his dream of becoming a wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment.

The documentary film focused on the triumphs and the let downs within the process of making it in the wrestling industry. The students Travis, Natalie, and Bill learned about the technical aspects and the social aspects of wrestling. Most notably, Bill received hazing and ribbing because of his “newbie” status coupled with his sexuality.  Throughout the experience, Bill stated that he would not let it get to him so he could prove himself to everyone.

Natalie proved to be a tough cookie from the start. She would come late to practice and talk out of line. The no nonsense holds no prisoners’ attitude of Natalie proved to be an issue throughout the film.   It led her into trouble many times with Scotty Mac. Scotty Mac mentioned that he felt that he was easy on her because she reminded him of himself.  He questioned whether Natalie really wanted to become a wrestler and even be there.

Travis, however, did not allow for the let downs in his life to affect his triumphs. He worked consistently throughout the movie to hone his craft and make something out of himself. He wanted to prove to his parents and everyone else that he could make it as a wrestler.  It allowed for him to motivate himself to achieve.

This Wrestling Life chronicled the graduation of many of its students including Bill and Travis. In the graduating class, Natalie was not included. She did not graduate. However, that motivated her to continue and to prove to everyone that she wanted to be there.

The documentary film showed how rough the training process is for wrestlers. The training process is not for everyone and it quickly weeds out those people.  This Wrestling Life allowed the viewers into the hearts and minds of four individuals. It encompassed the whole spectrum of wrestling—trainer/booker, male trainee wrestler, female trainee wrestler, and male trainee referee. The main drawback is the time constraints.  Not every moment can be depicted. Also, the film focused on the Travis’ story, which was epitome of success. The documentary allowed for the inside view into the lives of the participants and wrestling.  The beginning of the journey to superstardom is rarely chronicled and the people who helped along the way are not given proper praise. Scotty Mac brought out the talent that was inside of Billy, Travis, and Natalie. He shared with them all the fun, heart breaking, frustrating, happy moments along with the blood, sweat, and tears that makes up a life in the wrestling business.

——————————————————————————————————————-

Where are they now?

  • Natalie, or KC Spinelli, is currently a female wrestler in ECCW and for other companies. She has been in matches against Malia Hosaka, Sunni Daze, Nicole Matthews, among others.  KC Spinelli is part of the team, Tits & Abs with Alex Plexis in ECCW.
  • Travis, or  “The Popstar” Travis Sparx,  is currently in the group called Pop Culture.  His team mates are Ice, Bishop, & Veronika Vice. He currently competes for ECCW and other companies.
  • Bill Taylor is a referee in ECCW and he’s not afraid to show people who’s the boss!
  • Scotty Mac is still going strong as the go to guy in ECCW. He is a trainer, booker, and occasional wrestler.  He’s happy with his role, but still hopes to be WWE.
  • They all have their dreams in wrestling and are still trying to make it a reality!

Lance Storm Talks Divas & Dawn Marie
August 12th, 2010 | C0mments

Photobucket

Lance Storm was recently asked some questions on his site – www.stormwrestling.com . It was rather interesting to see what he thinks about the Women’s Division today. He also spoke about Dawn Marie‘s wrestling and her valeting. Take a look!

Q: I know from the endorsement that Trish Stratus gave you for your SWA that you helped the women back in 2001-2003. Looking at how far women’s wrestling has fallen in WWE today, do you think you could, with a straight face, consistently help the current divas plan 1 minute and 40 second title matches?

A: I think the problem is bigger than just helping these girls plan matches. I think in many cases (certainly not all) the current women’s roster is not as talented and the office is booking them a lot less credibly, so just helping them put better matches together is not the problem, and if it were Fit Finlay is still with the company, he can do every bit as good of a job as I can at it and quite probably far better.

Q: Did Dawn Marie ever give you personality/promo tips when you were paired together and vice versa? Would she have been a viable wrestler? I don’t recall her in too many matches, outside of the ‘catfights’.

A: She did not attempt to give me promo tips at any point. As for her as a viable wrestler I guess it depends on the time frame; by today’s standards certainly but during the Trish Stratus era probably not. Dawn was best as a valet; she was AWESOME on so many levels. That was her calling in this business and she was often underutilized in that role

In my opinion, Dawn Marie was a good wrestler. I agree with Lance that she was underutilized as a valet/manager, but also as a wrestler. Even back then during what he dubbed as the Trish Stratus era, she was a veteran. She pulled out decent matches with girls with limited abilities. You can look back at her matches with Torrie Wilson, Jackie Gayda, and Michelle McCool. These girls were as wrestlers say very “green‘. They were rookies. To be able to get into the ring and work with them and furthermore, push them as workers took  a lot of effort from Dawn.  She wasn’t considered a female wrestler.

To go off into the wild blue yonder with the WWE  Women’s Division is another story. The women today are a different breed of lady wrestlers.  Very few come from the independent scene.  Most of them are WWE grown. The problem may lay within that. However, you have cases of MICHELLE MCCOOL who is a very good wrestler. She came out of the productions of WWE developmentals. I think the issues deal with time constraints and  monetary issues rather than wrestling talent. I think the time frame of matches really hurts all the girls.  In very short matches, you tend to have to hurry through the moves and botches are more evident. Longer matches, some botches are forgotten as the competitors bounce back.

What do you guys think?
